After PAF, Carllos recovers and his life is transformed
With the support of the Dara Institute (formerly Saúde Criança), little two-year-old Carllos is in good health and his mother, Camila, 29, has gone back to making plans for the future. “Now that my son is in good health, I will try to take the cooking course offered by the Dara Institute, because I want to sell snacks. Today, he is in good health, he is normal, running,” said the mother.
In 2017, Carllos was diagnosed with heart disease and congenital malformation. He had surgery to remove a granuloma, but he had a bacterial infection and was hospitalized for 44 days. Currently, he is under medical supervision at the National Institute of Cardiology and needs to take antibiotics.
The family lived in a house with only one bedroom and one bathroom, in Belford Roxo, in the Baixada Fluminense region, but thanks to the improvements carried out by the Housing Program, the house was expanded. It added a kitchen, laundry area, a bedroom, as well as a new bathroom floor, new doors, windows and a paint job. “Now, our house is quite large and spacious. My children can move around here at will. We sleep comfortably and have a water tank. Before, we used to bathe with a mug. Our bathroom has a door, shower and spout”, celebrated Camila.
