Dara Institute is news on German TV Deutsche Welle

On June 12th, the German TV broadcaster Deutsche Welle visited  the Dara Institute’s headquarters in Rio de Janeiro to record a TV report on teenage mothers in Brazil. The piece, aired on July 22nd, followed the story of 17-year-old Vitória Gabriele, one of the mothers assisted by Dara, who was in the seventh month of her second pregnancy at the time.

Conducted by journalist Bianca Kopsch, the filming tracked Vitória to Morro do Dendê, where she lives with her husband, Eduardo, and their two-year-old daughter, Laura. Furthermore, it addressed the family’s passage through Dara, portraying the support received by the young woman during such a delicate moment.

The reporter interviewed members of Dara’s team and included a statement from one of the institution’s social workers, Catia Alina Bauer, responsible for the young woman’s support within the Citizenship area of the Family Action Plan (in Portuguese, Plano de Ação Familiar – PAF), a methodology developed by the Dara Institute to combat poverty in all its social aspects.

Professionals associated with the institution followed the recordings at all times, from Vitória’s arrival at the institution to her return to the community where she resides with her family. The full report can be watched at the links below.
