Dara means guiding star in an Asian Sanskrit, a two-way guide: on the one hand, the work of volunteers, employees and contributors; on the other, the strength of entire families that guide us to work for those at-risk. The name change represents the strenghthness of the institution.

Dara Institute promotes a campaign to eradicate social inequality and the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. NGO encourages the fight against structural poverty for a more egalitarian and developed society in Brazil. You can also be a Changemaker!

At the end of the 1980s, as a doctor, working at Hospital da Lagoa, in Rio de Janeiro, I clearly perceived the relationship between the diseases that affected children hospitalized there and the situation of risk and social vulnerability to which they and their families were subjected.
