A total of 450 pregnant and postpartum women treated between July 2022 and June 2023 at the Maria Amélia Buarque de Hollanda Maternity Hospital, in downtown Rio de Janeiro, participated in this project. With art as a tool for transformation and social inclusion, several cultural initiatives were developed to disseminate knowledge and promote self-esteem and self-care, such as conversation circles and interactive workshops. The topics discussed included pregnant women’s rights, reproductive rights, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), contraceptive methods, and women in the labor market.
This project was made possible through the Culture Incentive Law and the ISS Law, with the sponsorship of the Municipal Department of Culture of Rio de Janeiro and Amil.
