The Dara Institute received a donation of US$ 1 million (R$ 5 million) from the American philanthropist and businesswoman MacKenzie Scott. According to the emissaries of the co-founder of the American technology giant Amazon, the transfer reflects the seriousness with which the Dara Institute deals with issues of innovation, governance and social impact.
Voted the most powerful woman in the world by Forbes magazine in 2021, MacKenzie, Scott, according to the publication, has already donated US$8.6 billion to 780 organizations that defend causes such as gender equality, racial justice, public health and many others. (Others).According to analysts working for the philanthropist’s consultants, Dara’s social technology, the Family Action Plan, was decisive in attracting sympathy for the organization based in Rio de Janeiro: “we were very interested in the integrated approach inherent in the methodology adopted by the Family Action Plan, as well as the fact that you have robust and measurable results”.
The allocation of around R$5 million to the Dara Institute, according to Adriane Menna Barreto, Executive Director of Dara, underscores the international reputation that Dara already has:
