The photography exhibition that shows images of the families that participated in the Dara and the Rio de Janeiro Child, Youth and Elderly Court System project was inaugurated on October 7 at the Justice Museum, in Rio de Janeiro. The exhibit, entitled, A View of Transformation – Impacts of Dara/TJRJ Project on three families’ lives, shows 21 photographs taken by artist Euri Bezerra that register the transformation in the lives of Carmerinda, Gleice and José.
At the opening, Dr. Vera Cordeiro, founder and Chairwoman of the Board of the Dara Institute, expressed the importance of the partnership. “Today we celebrate this incredible initiative, which has transformed the reality of several families. I hope that this partnership with the Court System continues and that Dara’s methodology can be replicated throughout Brazil.”
Siléa Macieira, director of the Museum, said: “Offering this space to publicize an incredible social project, that had such significant results, strengthens the mission of the museum and the Judiciary, which is to promote social pacification.”
Carmerinda, one of the individuals whose photos are part of the exhibition, expressed her joy at participating in this celebration: ’’It was great to be part of this project. I am grateful for this exhibition and for all the people at Dara. Now I have my renovated house and can receive my entire family; I am very glad that everyone can enjoy the result of this transformation.’’
More than one hundred people were present at the event, including the Honorable Judges Sandro Pitthan Espíndola, Lysia Maria da Rocha Mesquita and Claudia Maria de Oliveira Motta, all of whom are from the Child, Youth, and Elderly Court System.
The exhibition runs until November 6, and can be seen from Monday through Friday, between 11 am and 5 pm, at the Justice Museum (Desembargador Caetano Pinto de Miranda Montenegro Building, Rua Dom Manuel, 29, Centro, Rio de Janeiro). Admission is free.
