The Dara Institute was elected the best civil society organization in Brazil for the tenth consecutive year

The Dara Institute was recognized as the best civil society organization in Brazil for the tenth consecutive year and the twentieth best in the world in 2022 by the global ranking released by thedotgood, formerly known as NGO Advisor. The 2022 list of the world’s 200 best civil society organizationsmeasured against specific criteria, such as transparency, governance, impact of methodology, innovation, among others – aims to be a global guide and a compass for the construction of a contemporary framework of values and strategies represented by the work of the citizen sector and to support and stimulate the debate of the most effective work being carried out in the social sphere.

In its more that 30 years of activity, the Dara Institute has implemented, developed and disseminated the Family Action Plan (PAF), a social technology that consists in a participatory plan of action, indicators and goals of a process in which actions in the areas of health, housing, income, citizenship and education are integrated and aimed at improving the development of families in situations of social vulnerability and promoting their autonomy. Dara believes poverty to be a multidimensional phenomenon and, to face this challenge, only a multidisciplinary and integrated approach can promote health and human development and guarantee the social inclusion of each family member.

“We need to celebrate this global recognition of our work. I am very grateful to each and every one who contributed to this: employees, volunteers, sponsors, donors, advisors and other stakeholders. Dara has now spent 30 years transforming the lives of more than 85,000 people on four continents”, said Vera Cordeiro, founder and chairman of the board of the Dara Institute.

Without the support of sponsors and donors none of this would be possible. The Dara Institute would like to thank and credit our principal partners, White Martins and the Hilti Foundation, as well as the other supporters who contribute so much, such as Drogasil, Editora MOL, BrazilFoundation, Instituto Phi, GS1 Brasil – Associação Brasileira de Automação, DKT Brasil, TIM Brasil, among others.
